Playing catch-up from back end of 2016, feeling like I only scratched the surface during my visit to the Hepworth Wakefield gallery. The location is compelling, rushing water over tangled branches and river rubbish, wide open spaces, high ceilings and light-filled… that is the church of Barbara Hepworth, patron saint of British sculpture. A gallery jewel in the crown of the north, and master mini-mecca when it comes to contemporary art. If you haven’t done this artist’s pilgrimage yet, then why not?
